Green chuney
is the colloquial name used for the mint chutney due to its green coloured
appearance. This is a side dish which is almost suitable for every dish like
bonda, chapati, rice bath, samosa etc. Hence this proves to be the most
essential side dish and the advantage is that it is easier to prepare and can
be stored in fridge for a day or two. Today let us just learn to make the best
of the green chutney.
Ingredients :
·
Mint leaves - 1 cup
·
Onion chopped - ½ cup
·
Coriander leaves - ½ cup
·
Green chilly - 2
·
Lemon juice - few drops
·
Ginger - small piece
·
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
·
Chat masala powder - 1 tsp
Method of preparation :
1. The mint leaves and the coriander
leaves are finely chopped.
2. Onion, ginger and chilles are finely
chopped.
3. Chopped
leaves, green chilly, onion, ginger, chat masala, cumin powder, salt are blended
well.
4. Little
water is added and blended again to get a smooth paste.
5. Lemon
drops are added to the blended paste and this has to be mixed well with a dry
spoon.
6. This
makes the green chutney ready.
A small amount of jeera also can
be added to enhance the taste and make it tastier. Add more of chilly to make
it more spicy along with chilly powder.
The best thing about the mint chutney
is that it can be grown even in pots at home. I normally do not buy mint in
market. I just row it at my home and every time there is sufficient mint
leaves, I prepare this green chutney and refrigerate it.
